Comicon was hectic and good and now it is over!
Dove back into the work week with necessary vigor.
Posting pictures... later (not too many to post, really).
There are weird smells wafting into my room but they're not too bad.
Man, i haven't updated this in forever. If i checked my last LJ post it'd probably say the same thing :) odds are not much of note has happened since then. pretty smooth sailing, really. |

iPod success is mine!
Thanks to Ryan and his super-mad skills, my new pod Hobbes is being pumped full of music as we speak! My old ipod, seemingly in fits of jealousy, has actually been freezing up sporadically for the first time in the several years i've been using it. i'd been trying to convince myself not to feel bad about buying a new ipod when i had one that was working perfectly, but now i'm feeling guilty for making it feel bad?
i dunno. the point is..

Actually reading my own livejournal really doesn't provide an accurate cross-section of my life. I don't suppose it matters, as most livejournals are really a place to complain about stuff, or mention good movies people have seen, etc. I just felt like making a note of it.
in the spirit of that, here's a list of things that i do that i don't mention here much:
-i'm knitting a scarf right now from this hand-spun yarn (the best sort of yarn) i found in Silverlake
-i've been going out for coffee a lot, largely courtesy of Randeep who really likes coffee and seems to be better at finding cool coffee places than i will ever be
-i recently bought, assembled and set up a new shelf in my room for cds, which doesn't sound that great but i get really excited about aesthetically pleasing organizing :)
-Jason and i have been doing marathon viewings of Avatar: The Last Airbender, now that i've got all three seasons on DVD (beginning to end, excepting about three episodes that are nigh unwatchable)
-i'm big into retail therapy, so i buy myself random shit; a jacket that makes me look like a stylish hobo, a lambskin rug, several cool looking sketchbooks i don't need, some Beatles cds (just because i don't own any), LOADS of comics that i don't have shelf-space for (although this last one is less of a needless impulse buy than the rest) and etc.
-work's going well
-i'm working on a comic. very. very. slowly.
-i check facebook way too many times a day. that was my concern and the beginning of the venture, and now all my fears have become reality
-i'm going to be traveling a fair bit! San Francisco next weekend, Washington at the end of May, San Diego for Comicon in July, and Toronto somewhere in between. I don't go places much, so i'm excited about all of this :)
-i went to The Edison tonight, so that was fun
-i'm hanging out with Meg tomorrow! + Court's b-day party in the evening.
i'll leave the list at that. that's a better summary of the shit i'm up to, for the benefit of anyone who cares to read it. there's a part of me that thinks that someday i'll look back on this as an actual journal years down the road, and i just want to make sure me of the future acurately remembers what i've been up to. |

I just bought a new ipod nano. It's orange! It has twice the space of my old nano! It's super exciting!
And i can't fucking use it. Apprently it's incapable of running on anything less than iTunes 8.0, which is itself incapable of installing on my version of OSX (10.3.9).
I'm so fucking pissed at mac. my computer's NOT that old. i don't understand why they can't make their latest software updates for people like me, who haven't needed to buy a new computer because, somehow, mac actually makes a decent fucking product. i just spent $200 on a piece of hardware, the least they could do is let me run a fucking program that's available FOR FUCKING FREE.
fucking mac and their fucking compulsive upgrades.
fuck 'em.
*sigh*
So yeah, if anyone has any advice, that'd be super. I can get my hands on a copy of Leopard to install, but my computer's too old to properly run the new OS. I might have an old version of Tiger sitting around (os x 10.4.something or other) that i could install, but would that require wiping my harddrive? because i CAN backup all my files and reload them, but i'll lose photoshop, and it all doesn't seem worth it just because the folks at mac are fucking dip shits. |

Spent the day with the folks! Went to Abuelitas for lunch, then drove up the coast and poked around some tide-pools (have some flickrs). then i made pancakes for dinner! the blog and facebook already know this, i'm just really excited because i've never really made pancakes all by myself before. i know, right, but there it is. and they were GOOD. i'm pretty proud.
Oh yeah, i dyed my hair a little pink. it only shows up in the sun (what with the parts that are dyed black and can't be re-dyed), but i plan to grow it out. pink is the new black, guys. |

Every day of the week i wake up and i know that if i could just go back to sleep for like... two more hours i'd be good to go.
I think saturday's are for waking up, showering, then going back to sleep for two more hours. Now i've just to get something accomplished to make it all worthwhile! |

They screened 'Secret of Kells' for us at the studio last night. It was gorgeous! the designs, the animation... i could have watched it forever.
They're trying to find a distributor in the U.S., and they're going to have a region 2 (freaking EUROPEAN) format dvd available later this year. If they can't get a region 1 format produced i'm TOTALLY just going to buy the region 2 and... figure something out.
I also watched The Room last night, which may just be the most horrible thing ever made. I mean, it was hilarious, but making it through to the end bordered on painful. of course, we did wind up watching it all the way through, so... whatever that tells you. I just kind of wished we hadn't watched this AFTER 'secret of kells'. It probably deserved it's own evening.
(one of these movies was apparently made for 6 million dollars. the other was made for significantly less. you'll never guess which one. no really, you'll never guess. well, there are only two options so... you probably could guess, but you'd still be very, very surprised)
Still though! Barack Obama and 'Secret of Kells' all in one week! not too shabby :) |

I hate the dog that lives across the street.
I wish President Obama would come over and kick this dog. It wouldn't even be considered an act of animal cruelty. One kick from Obama, and the dog would gain the powers of speech, sit up and say "i'm so sorry for barking all the damn time. It's just a cry for attention." and i will say "that's okay, hellishly annoying dog. the point is that you've admitted you have a problem. let's get you some counseling."

I just fucking saw Barack Obama!
IN PERSON. he drove by the studio on his way to Leno (he's on Leno tonight), and we were all on the corner by the freeway off-ramp. He waved to us! and smiled!
I am literally giddy as a school girl.
I also saw the Jonas Brothers in person, but it's really hard to get excited about that. |

Wow, i haven't updated in forEVar!
Largely there hasn't been much to report.
I saw 'Watchmen', it wasn't all that great (can you spell "least erotic/tender sex scene ever"?), blue wang (oh noes), etc. The only parts i really enjoyed were the opening sequence (played over the dylan song, i thought it was really effective) and any scene with Rorschach in it (they found a damned good Rorschach, god help them if they hadn't). I call it less a fault of the film makers and more a fault of the undertaking; you cannot adequately adapt THAT graphic novel for the screen.
Job's going well. I need to work on my comic for Torch Tiger (the follow up to Rocket Johnson) and i really, really haven't.
Thought about moving out when my lease was up, but have now decided not to because my current appartment is rad. (THRILLS!)
I saw "Deathbed: The Bed That Eats" (bringing you the least erotic sex scene since "Watchmen"!)
Hell, i've been updating my blog more than my livejournal. My blog! let me pimp you it!
Life's been like a lazy roller coaster for kiddies; nothing crazy, but nothing bad and kind of relaxing :) |

"Love is a Battlefield" is the kind of song i really like but i think i only like hearing it on the radio. If i bought it and put it on my ipod i'd never want to listen to it. I don't know why this is.
Listening to Daft Punk kinda makes me want to go underwear shopping. Just for cute, comfortable underwear. I REALLY don't know why this is. |

9:00am : (call work, tell them i'm feeling better and will be there by 9:30)
9:15am : (feel kinda funny, take temperature, have a fever)
9:16am : (call work back, tell them nevermind, i'm still sick)
9:45am : (take temperature again because i'm obsessive, fever's gone, temperature's normal)

Oh man, i am so totally sick. i'm awake right now because i spent most of my day sleeping, and will probably be asleep again within the next hour or so.
The cool thing about being awake at this hour is it's about the only quiet time on my street. Usually there's traffic noise most hours of the day and night (not that bad, but it's there), but from about 3AM to 5AM (i guess) it's peaceful.
Slumdog Millionaire won a bunch of Oscars, and that's a good thing. |
